Superseded by #33. The docs task here predates SPEC.md: it asks to keep the MusicBrainz section and document login/logout + .p8-free gateway setup, all of which the spec removes (§2, §12). #33 rewrites README + AGENTS.md against the actual SPEC command set (status, list-playlists, list-tracks, sync [name], match), the apple_music.playlists config mapping, and the appleplaylists.db state store. Closing in favor of #33.

README gateway setup and command documentation were updated in coop/beets-appleplaylists commit b5a121c8c728bcf218e5e4561bed603e01e82b44, including service_url/service_token, gateway deployment, and the no-local-Apple-credentials model.

The requested AGENTS.md update is still outstanding: the repository's protected-file guard blocked the edit even after an explicit approval response in this session. This issue is intentionally left open until that file can be updated.
